South-Carolina-Plantations.com exists because of the curiosity, energy, and persistence of one delightful lady Ms. Johnie Rivers of Charleston.
Johnie has worked as a volunteer for the South Carolina Historical Society for many years. In the late 1990s she also started answering questions about SC history on SCIway.net, and she soon noticed that many of the questions were related to plantations. To avoid redoing research, Johnie began writing her answers on index cards one card for each plantation. Those index cards have grown into this website.
